HEATHER GILL ANNOUNCES PLAN FOR WEST LINCOLN TULIP FESTIVAL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 22, 2024

“I have deep roots in West Lincoln my family connections go back as far as the 90’s when my father was a resident of Legion Villa. We have a great community.  I think it’s time we show off how beautiful our town is and can be,” announced Gill.

“It will be one of my first tasks to propose the first annual West Lincoln Tulip Festival.  We have such a rich and diverse culture that gets overlooked.  We are close to one of the seven wonders of the world but don’t get much of the direct economic benefit from our proximity to Niagara Falls.”

Gill added, “Residents tell me that the property taxes are just too high. They want a council that will attract a commercial & industrial tax base in order to reduce the burden on homeowners. Culture is one way to do that.”

Gill believes a community–based effort will have the best results. “Look at how beautiful the City of Ottawa is every spring? Surely we can do an even better job in West Lincoln.”

“If I am elected as the ward 3 councillor I will put together a committee of residents who will present a more fully formed idea to council. The basic idea is that residents who want to participate would plan out their gardens according to an agreed upon theme, plant in the fall and the we would advertise our festival in the Spring. Of course town and Niagara Region owned properties would also be included in the festival.”
